Background/IRC Summary: Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. It helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. IRC teams provide health care, infrastructure, learning and economic support to people in 40 countries, with special programs designed for women and children. The IRC is currently providing support to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Lebanon, Iraq, Turkey and Syria. In Jordan, the IRC provides primary and reproductive health care, cash assistance, and social services to refugee families in urban areas. In refugee camps, the IRC provides support for refugee women and girls and helps to reunite children who've crossed the border alone, with their families.
Job Overview/Summary: The health program will contribute to IRC’s larger health strategy in Jordan, responding effectively to the unmet needs of Syrian urban refugees and vulnerable Jordanians in Irbid and Mafraq governorates. This program will form an integral part of IRC’s community health outreach strategy, filling a gap in existing curative, preventive and promotion health care services through a mobile clinic program and a community health volunteer (CHV) network.
Mobile clinics staffed with trained health professionals and enthusiastic CHV will bring health services directly to the urban, sub-urban, and rural areas where they are needed.
For IRC, a community health volunteer (CHV) network and mobile clinics pertain to understanding and addressing the health education, basic health care and referral needs through formal and informal actions taken at the community level to create more effective and efficient linkages between services available within the community and the primary, secondary and tertiary health care options.
An effective team member of community health program whom supervised by the Senior Community Health Officer, the Community Health Monitoring Officer will play active role overseeing day to day activities of more than 50 CHVs and follow up on data collection and compilations through customizable data management service that can be accessed through both the website and a mobile application in close coordination with Deputy Health Manager.
