Since 2007, IRC has worked with refugees and other vulnerable populations in Jordan. IRC’s programs in Jordan focus on urban interventions in the north that address gender-based violence specifically violence against women and girls for Syrian refugees and host community members as well as reproductive health care to Syrian refugees through two clinics based in Ramtha and Mafraq. Since January 2013, IRC also carries out Child Protection programs in Syrian refugee camps, providing specialized services for the identification, support and protection of unaccompanied children (UAC) and other children at risk.
Job Overview/Summary: The Outreach Nurse will take on the role of supporting the mobile medical team in Irbid governorate that will provide services to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. The mobile medical team will consist of two doctors, one midwife and two nurses. This position is based in Irbid with continuous travel to target districts within the governorate. Under the direct supervision from the Deputy Health Manager, the mobile medical team will engage with the community health volunteers and work closely with program will support CHVs in Irbid and coordinate with two mobile clinics and two primary health care facilities. The medical team will also establish a referral system with the Women’s Empowerment and Protection department responsible for responding to the psychological needs of the refugees. In addition, the nurse will provide professional medical care to the highest quality and in accordance with national and international laws and standards.
*The outreach nurse can be asked to cover in other governorate or other health facility within IRC Health Program coverage area (Mafraq, Irbid & Ramtha).
