NRC is implementing a school expansion project in public schools in Irbid governorate. The project is aimed at increasing the capacity of public schools through building new classrooms and sanitary facilities.
The Design officer will work as a part of NRC's school construction team in developing architectural designs and plans for selected schools, the Design officer will also visit the construction sites on regular basis and support in the supervision of ongoing works.
1. Roles and Responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
• Provides CC technical support in implementation activities.
• Identify, analyze and evaluate processes and gaps in the implementation of activities and make recommendations for improvement.
• Collaborate with relevant local authorities and/or stakeholders.
• Suggests new methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities that meets the needs of beneficiaries.
• Ensures compliance with NRC policies CC tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Identify, analyze and evaluate processes and gaps in the implementation of activities and make recommendations for improvement.
• Reports over the achieved activities, provides analysis over the performed activities and signal bottlenecks.
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of program intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. The line manager drafts the specific responsibilities and sends them to his/her line manager for approval.
• Working with a team of architects and engineers, to develop architectural drawings, plans, designs and other technical document for the construction of additional classrooms in Jordanian schools in Irbid.
• Communicate to stakeholders on designs, discuss with stakeholders problems and solutions in terms of design
• Include lessons learned and identify solutions in terms of designs and include these in future designs
• Conduct market assessments and discuss with the engineering office design solutions
• Produce technical documents such as BOQ’s and SOW’s for construction projects.
• Receive and follow-up on referrals from other departments within the organization, providing documentation and reports as required. ?? Not sure what this means
• In line with NRC criteria make technical Assessments of schools in northern governorates in Jordan.
• Carry out any other duties requested by direct supervisor as related to program planning and implementation.
