NRC is developing a community based youth programme for Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians. A Youth Coordinator is required to support the start-up and implementation of the programme. The Youth Coordinator is responsible for project implementation, staff management, limited budget supervision, and liaising with stakeholders. The NRC host community youth programme is expected to launch in either Irbid or Mafraq Governorates during end 2016 and early 2017.
1. Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
1. Coordinate and implement the host community youth projects according to strategy, proposals and plans developed by NRC in coordination with partners.
2. Ensure adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements when implementing the projects.
3. Develop monthly activity and work plans
4. Supervise, train and develop CC staff in accordance with development plans and work plans
5. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
6. Cooperate with relevant partners and local authorities
7. Organize trainings for the CC team, relevant partners and beneficiaries
8. Contribute to donor reports as required
9. Ensure proper filing of all project documents
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
• Manage and support the start-up NRC host community youth project, including the planning and implementation of activities as well as management of youth teams and community trainers.
• Manage staff performance using NRC’s Performance Management system
• Build NRC’s position as a key coordination partner for youth actors operating in the local area and in developing partnerships with relevant agencies.
• Supervise the budget lines for above activities and monitor expenditure. Meet on a monthly basis to review budget versus actual expenditure for all projects and donors funding activities.
• Act as the media focal point, in close coordination with the Communications team, for the youth project, including drafting and delivering presentations.
• Act as the focal point for organising donor visits to youth project sites.
• Draft concept papers, proposals for new activities in the host community youth project and for the continuation of on-going activities, in coordination with the Project Manager and Education Specialist.
• Draft donor reports for on-going projects, in coordination with the Project Manager.
• Lead key programme development discussions with field staff for follow up with Project Manager and Education Specialist.
