What is there
In May 2016, NRC contracted data analysts to:
● Identify influencers in Middle Eastern Twitter sphere.
● Map media outlets that cover Syrian refugees. These maps show how stories with similar timing, actors, actions and sentiments spread in the media.
● Build a real-time social media monitoring tool that pools content related to Syrian refugees in 35 languages on major blog platforms such as Wordpress and Blogspot; forums and message boards like Reddit, and link sharing services like Bitly along with video descriptions and comments from Youtube, Dailymotion and Vimeo.
What we need
NRC needs recommendations to ensure we are making the best use of the information collected in the survey and a clear value add according to our mandate: protecting displaced people and advocating for their rights.
As you'll see, NRC wanted to find out who was most influential in and Jordan on a range of humanitarian issues. Now we have the data, we'd like some concrete recommendations and hopefully some initial delivery on how to reach those influential and make sure this information doesn't go to waste, with the following end goal in mind: contribute to perpetuate a more positive sentiment towards refugees both in Jordan, and debunk myths around their threat to security, economy and social fabric (partly by addressing people's fears, through these influencers).
