The German Red Cross (GRC) is a humanitarian organization working in Jordan from 2007 - 2009 and again since 2013. Together with our partner organization, the Jordan Red Crescent Society, we implement various projects for Syrian refugees in Jordan and vulnerable host communities. The German Red Cross is part of the Red Cross / Red Crescent Movement under the umbrella of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
Job purpose:
This position is part of the GRC/JRCS Syria response project. The purpose of this position is to collect, manage and analyse beneficiary and monitoring data. The position holder works closely with the Programme Coordinator, the Hotline Assistant, the field staff in Irbid as well as relevant staff in JRCS headquarter.
Main Objectives:
• To maintain the Access database to ensure accurate and accessible records of beneficiary data
• To support the regular and urgent cash assistance program in terms of data management
• To develop data collection tools for assessments and monitoring, to analyse data and to prepare reports
• To support the office and team with all IT-related issues
Job duties and responsibilities:
Database Management
• Maintain the Access database and keep it up to date (entry of beneficiary data, assistance received, issues and verifications)
• Aggregate monthly statistics from the database
• Alert Delegate of problems in database and propose solutions
• Liaise with database consultant to improve tools in the DB
Support to Cash Program:
• Prepare monthly payment lists and upload files for the bank
• Reconcile bank reports and cash lists and prepare follow-up lists for the Hotline Assistant
• Plan and monitor ATM card production, transport, distribution, activation
• Evaluate assessments for the urgent cash assistance program and coordinate assessments as well as card distribution with team in JRCS HQ and Irbid office
Data collection, analysis and reporting:
• Develop and revise questionnaires for Open Data Kit Software or similar applications (e. g. for assessments and Post Distribution Monitoring)
• Ensure that proper data collection is carried out by JRCS staff/ volunteers according to standard forms and procedures and report any discrepancy to Delegate
• Verify the accuracy and consistency of the data collected
• Ensure that data is regularly saved on the server
• Analyse collected data and present it in monitoring reports including graphics, charts etc.
• Ensure regular reporting on Activity Info and RAIS
Capacity Building:
• Train Hotline Assistant on usage of Database to record complaints through the hotline
• Support training and capacity building of national society staff and volunteers in data collection as well as in general computer applications such as Word, Excel etc.
Office IT:
• Maintaining the server, network, hardware and software in Amman and Irbid office
• Ensuring that staff are regularly backing up their data on the server
• Provide IT technical support to team
• Ensure protection of beneficiary data in the GRC/JRCS office in Amman and Irbid
• Increase security on data management and confidentiality within GRC
• Support GRC Office and staff with IT related questions
General:
• Support delegate as translator/interpreter when required
• Other tasks may be assigned as required
Working Hours :
• This position is a full time position, 40 hours per week (excluding lunch break)
• Working days are Sunday to Thursday from 8.30h to 17h, plus overtime when necessary
• GRC is a humanitarian organization specialised in emergency relief programmes, every employee is asked to be flexible in terms of timetable in order to cover any emergency situation.
Duties applicable to all staff:
1. Work towards the achievement of GRC goals in the Syria Crisis operation through effective managerial relations and teamwork.
2. Ensure understanding of roles, responsibilities, bilateral relationships and accountability.
3. Perform other work related duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Contract: short-term contract (5 months, renewable)
