- Ensure and organise medical activities for patients and/or a population depending on the context and in accordance with MSF/MoH protocols. These should be carried out in a manner that provides safe, compassionate and high quality care.
- providing cover for the other doctors in the project when they are absent for any reason such as leave or training. It will require considerable flexibility and may mean changes in work place and daily schedule at short notice.
- participate in evaluation and audit to help support the project to improve the quality of care.
- Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevent illness (assisted by clinical examination, laboratory results and investigations as available).
- Ensure appropriate medical follow-up and, if necessary and possible, refer to other health facilities.
- Keep the patient and his/her family (respecting confidentiality) informed of their condition ·
- Apply universal hygiene standards in all medical activities.
- Collaborate with nurses and team supervisor in indicating the needs for medical equipment and drugs.
- Ensure the systematic and organized follow up of patients, including follow-up of non-attenders.
- Ensure the follow-up treatment, including short- term prescriptions and renewal of long-term prescriptions.
- Ensure rapid and appropriate management and referral of medical emergencies according to MSF/MoH guidelines.
- According to MSF protocols and guidelines, and in order to ensure continuity of care when the he/she is not on the spot, could be asked to define treatment protocols or treatment adaptation to be applied by nurses.
- Ensure daily briefings are given to MSF project doctor as requested re numbers seen, problems encountered, emergency patients, referrals made, safety issues and any other relevant information.
- Assist MAM in the supervision, data collection and analysis, referrals follow up and feedback, participation in the meetings when required, assistance in building good relationships with key stakeholders like MoH and AMRS, evaluation of medical program including providing assistance on quality care management.
