Job Purpose
REACH is looking for an experienced professional to support the REACH Humanitarian Situation Overview (HSOS) research cycle. HSOS is a monthly assessment that provides comprehensive, multi-sectoral information about humanitarian conditions and priority needs. Under the line management of the HSOS team lead, the AO supports the implementation of the HSOS research cycle in close coordination with other team members.
Under the authority of Humanitarian Situation Overview (HSOS) Senior Assessment Officer
Working Relations:
Internal: HSOS team members, and REACH field staff
External: Cluster and Working Groups coordinators, IMOs
Job Responsibilities:
- Context monitoring: Following contextual developments, understanding interpretation of indicators, for example by regular communication with REACH field teams;
- Research design: Anticipating information gaps, drafting, translating and reviewing assessment indicators in coordination with clusters and working groups, developing assessment methodology;
- Tool creation: Updating the HSOS questionnaire in Kobo, updating paper forms, ensuring proper translation of indicators, creating new questionnaires when requested;
- Training of enumerators and field coordinators: Preparing training materials on HSOS indicators and data collection practices, facilitation training sessions with field staff;
- Data processing: Implementing data cleaning by translating “other options”, reviewing outliers and logical checks and processing follow-ups from enumerators;
- Data analysis and visualization: Implementing data analysis plans in close collaboration with the in-country data team, updating HSOS dashboards;
- Information management: Provision of technical and information management support to other team members within REACH, or humanitarian stakeholders;
- Other tasks falling within his/her functions as requested by supervisors
