- Ensure patient centred care is priority for all clinical staff, with emphasis on pain management, patients who spend a long time in bed (tractions, external fixators) require optimal personal hygiene, frequent positioning to prevent bedsores.
- Participate in the follow-up clinic activity and support the medical doctors in the clinical management.
- Participate and coach national staff Doctors to adhere to our admission criteria for patients in the receiving area and from any other surgical facilities.
- Support the MTL to assess the need for new medicines and medical materials in the project and to organize the timely ordering, distribution and use of these medicine
- Knows and helps implement the accidental blood exposure policy.
- Assists in implementing medical incident policy and report immediately to MTL.
- Collaborates with the medical team to ensure the implementation of MSF clinical policies, tools guidelines and protocols (admission criteria, antibiotic prophylaxis, pain management, thrombo-prophylaxis, etc.)
- Participate in performing Monitor and evaluate their performance and provide feedback to the MTL harness their strengths
- Participate in the evaluating medical doctors and provide feedback to the MTL on their performance
- Support the MTL to identify training needs for medical staff to improve their clinical performance
- Conduct on job training for medical staff on bedside care, appropriate filing of charts and vital signs and clinical observation
- Ensure the rational prescription of medication and in particular safe use of narcotics
- Ensure that all medications used in the facility are MSF approved and validated items
- Assist the MTL in forecasting medicines and supplies
- Responsible for the patient chart/file, and ensuring the validity of the information is up-to-date and accurate, this includes culture data base
- Responsible for maintaining registration books to record /collect weekly and monthly medical data from follow up clinic, inpatient ensuring and cross checking the validity of the data
- Responsible for the safety and epidemiological data tools and that all inputs can be crosschecked and verifiable
- Responsible for the safeguard of the data tools used in the facility and most important maintains strict confidentiality of the contents of the data.
- Responsible to submit monthly (timely) medical reports with analysis of the epidemiological trend to MTL
- Responsible for submitting an incident report or in an event of an accidental exposure to blood or needle-stick injury to MTL
- Supports the MTL in writing reports when requested
- Responsible for staff health (national or international) in case there is an emergency
- Responsible for all first aid boxes both at home, cars and in the facility if applicable
