OXFAM PURPOSE: To work with Oxfam’s staff to find lasting solutions to poverty and suffering.
TEAM PURPOSE: To work with the Jordan Programme team for improved Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) in the Zaatari Refugee Camp, Jordan.
JOB PURPOSE:
To support the MEAL Officer and the Zaatari Camp programme team in conducting MEAL activities, including data collection and data analysis, and to monitor the extent to which projects are meeting their objectives. Moreover, to strengthen and manage accountability systems to ensure that support is extended to all beneficiaries. The MEAL Assistant will also support in strengthening the capacity of Oxfam staff on monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning, and he/she will assist the recycling and waste management team for all monitoring and reporting of all aspects of their work.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the project team in Zaatari, Jordan, collecting data from the field as per the monitoring plan.
• Follow up proactively with programme team and management to ensure MEAL data is collected at agreed intervals
• Assist in conducting surveys, observational monitoring (for instance of WASH facilities), focus group discussions and key informant interviews within Zaatari camp; this will include monitoring community satisfaction and discussions with beneficiaries regarding accountability and communication.
• Enter gathered data in a prescribed format, provided by the MEAL Officer, to produce reports on a regular basis; normally in Word or Excel formats.
Perform analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, and draft reports presenting the results of the analysis.
• Contribute to timely and quality reporting on the projects.
• Assist the programme team in strengthening the accountability mechanisms at project level; this includes documenting and (monitoring) follow-up on feedback and complaints of beneficiaries and the generation of regular reports.
• Assist the project team in documenting lessons learnt.
• Work with MEAL Officer on designing and/or updating the MEAL tools
• Organize, collect, compile and document all program and MEAL-related data and files, ensuring that all records are properly organized and stored
• Any other task as assigned by the line manager, or matrix manager.
