The Jordan INGO Forum (JIF) is a network of 43 international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) implementing development and humanitarian programs to respond to the needs of vulnerable Jordanians, Syrian, Palestine and Iraqi refugees. JIF members work closely with the Minister of Planning and International Cooperation and line ministries, as well as with other actors such as the UN, national NGOs and donors, to plan, coordinate and monitor activities.
1. Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
1. Adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
2. Contribute to JIF strategy development, project proposals and provide input on needs and gaps
3. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities
4. Ensure capacity building of JIF members staff and transfer key skills
5. Liaise and collaborate with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders
6. Promote the rights of IDPs/returnees in line with the advocacy strategy
7. Provide specific technical input to coordination mechanism (e.g. sector coordination) and working groups
Specific responsibilities
• Help maintain high quality working groups by providing support and guidance when needed.
• Ensure smooth running of regular office functions, including procurement/logistics, scheduling, reporting, managing meeting organization, etc.
• Contribute to the realization of JIF’s internal and external communications strategies, and work to develop systems and tools to improve communication to and among JIF members
• Facilitate information sharing and exchange by ensuring that relevant reports, announcements, updates, etc. are consistently circulated to all JIF members and partners as relevant
• Track and highlight information from local Arabic and English media sources relevant to the humanitarian and development response in Jordan and JIF’s priorities.
• Stay abreast of and analyse new national policies and political changes that may impact JIF and its members.
• Develop and maintain a mapping of national NGO networks and coordination structures in Jordan, as well as key national NGOs within the humanitarian response.
• Collect, analyze and present data relevant to INGOs in Jordan.
• Attend relevant meeting and take notes that may be used by the Forum.
• Respond to requests for help and information from member organizations, non-member organizations and other stakeholders. Often this requires a high degree of coordination and the collection of sensitive information.
• Bring attention to issues that may be important to JIF members.
• Stay up-to-date on humanitarian, political, social and security issues relevant to Jordan and the wider response to the Syria Crisis.
• Perform other duties as requested.
