Staff Care is the overall medical and psychosocial support system for all NRC staff. This includes stress monitoring and risk reduction, critical incident support, maintaining a healthy working environment, and capacity building for all staff.
The role of the Staff Care Coordinator is to provide clinical support to NRC staff, to support NRC Human Resources in implementing its Staff Care obligations, and to provide trainings and awareness sessions for staff in order to improve their capacity to recognize and manage work related stress.
1. Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
• Implement NRC’s Staff Care systems and procedures at country level
• Ensure adherence to NRC Staff Care policies and provisions
• Train and develop line managers and peer support staff at country level
• Coordinate with relevant partners, authorities, counselors, etc.
• Prepare and submit periodic and monthly reports as appropriate & needed
• Support line managers in Staff Care initiatives
• Advice in personnel conflicts/processes when relevant
• Ensure that staff records are kept confidential
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
• Serve as the focal point within NRC Jordan for the Staff Care Programme
• Provide counselling, stress management, and critical incident interventions as necessary
• Suggest and implement initiatives and processes that contribute to a high-performing department and organization, including but not limited to, staff feedback mechanisms, staff surveys, complaints mechanisms, team building and other activities
• Establish and maintain a list of mental health professionals for referral
• Provide capacity building trainings for staff and managers, to enable them to fulfil their Staff Care responsibilities
• Provide ongoing individual or group clinical support for field staff that provides staff with a confidential, safe and supportive environment, to critically reflect on their professional practice and on the impact of their work on themselves
• Provide technical support and capacity building related to Staff Care
• Establish, train, and monitor NRC’s peer support network
