The Technical Assistant position within NRC’s Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) programme is a challenging humanitarian position responsible for direct provision of information and counselling to Syrian refugees and vulnerable Jordanians on various topics including legal and civil documentation, housing, land and property rights and work rights both in field outreach and in NRC’s drop-in centres.
1. Roles and Responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
• Provides Core Competency technical support to beneficiaries.
• Adheres to NRC policies, Core Competency tools, handbooks and guidelines.
• Prepares and files accurate records of project activities and ensures all information is accurate and available in time.
• Reports protection concerns to line manager(s).
• Develops own weekly activity planning.
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. The line manager drafts the specific responsibilities and sends them to his/her line manager for approval.
• Stays abreast of internal program SOPs and thematic/ counselling guidelines;
• Delivers information sessions and individual counselling to NRC Syrian and Jordanian beneficiaries on various topics including legal and civil documentation, housing, land and property rights and work rights
• Prepares and supports legal assistance to NRC beneficiaries;
• Ensures protection mainstreaming in field activities, including identification of cases for protection referrals;
• Undertakes day-to-day data collection and data entry related to field activities;
• Participates in field mapping exercises.
