The job of the Academic Quality Officer is to ensure that all policies, processes and procedures in the QRTA Quality Manual are operated to stated requirements, to develop an ethos of continual quality enhancement for the QRTA Professional Diploma and to support the Academic Director, ITE Diploma Coordinator and Professional Diploma Course Leader to ensure that QRTA meets quality assurance requirements of external agencies and institutions The Senior Officer will formally reports to and is line managed by the Program Director.
Duties & Responsibilities:
1. To ensure that the quality assurance and quality enhancement policies and procedures provided in the Quality Manual are implemented and operate fully for the Professional Diploma.
2. To keep the policies and procedures in the Quality Manual under review and to revise and enhance as a result of experience with their operation.
3. To provide support and guidance to staff to ensure that academic and professional standards are met and maintained to stated academic Grade Criteria and Queen Rania Teacher Academy professional Teachers’ Standards.
4. To develop and use feedback from staff and Student Teachers at the QRTA to embed an ethos of continual quality enhancement of the student academic and professional learning experience.
5. To support all staff at QRTA, particularly those responsible for delivery of the Professional Diploma, to fully engage with and operate the policies and procedures in the Quality Manual.
6. To ensure that Student Teachers understand student-facing policies and procedures in the Quality Manual by working with Teacher Educators, the ITE Diploma Coordinator and the Professional Diploma Course Leader.
7. To act as secretary for key academic committees, including Academic Board, Board of Studies and Board of Examiners by preparation of agendas and documents for meetings, and writing minutes of meetings.
8. To support staff with the operation and use of QRTA’s Assessment Regulations and Assessment Protocol, identifying enhancements and meeting any changing requirements of external organisations, such as the Ministry of Education and University of Jordan.
9. To liaise with appropriate staff at UCL Institute of Education with respect to quality assurance and quality enhancement (QA/QE) framework (Work Package 13).
10. To support the Academic Director (Programme Director), ITE Diploma Coordinator, Professional Diploma Course Leader and other key staff, including Teacher Educators, with the operation and management of quality assurance policies, processes and procedures.
11. To enhance the student learning experience and student support (both academic and pastoral) to increase student satisfaction working in liaison with the Student Officer.
12. To ensure that staff at the QRTA are kept up to date with any changing quality assurance requirements and developments in the Jordanian education system.
13. To provide secretarial support for panel hearings including,for example, Extenuating Circumstances Panels, Complaints Panels, Academic Appeals Panels.
14. Take on special projects as required and related to the role of Academic Quality Officer.
15. Undertake other duties commensurate with the role of Academic Quality Officer as may reasonably be requested.
16. Liaise with QRTA staff involved with the management and support of the Professional Diploma course and the Teacher Educators.
17. Liaise with staff in external organisations and institutions as determined by the Academic Director (Programme Director).
