The IT Manager works closely with IRD HQ IT as well as other Jordan based IRD IT managers to plan, organize, implement and maintain SGS IT operations. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. Additionally, the IT Manager directs activities to resolve hardware and software problems as needed.
S/he will design and implement short- and long-term plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future project requirements; develops, implements, and maintains IRD IT policies, procedures in the field, and provides associated training to maintain successful secure IT infrastructure administration; prepares scope of work, reports and other documentation for IT infrastructure projects and associated efforts; negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services; assists with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures; manages and sets priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, etc.; tests field network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports; tests server performance and provides network performance statistics and reports.
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Managing the execution of all project IT activities, including in the areas of infrastructure, managed services, hardware, software and advisory services to IRD field offices.
- Managing/leading the design, development and implementation of IT architectures to support the needs of IRD’s field office, consistent with the IT strategy.
- Designing/implementing the information management systems (through IRD Cloud services and systems integrators).
- Ensuring network and workstation health through Anti-Virus protection and definitions.
- Managing the execution and roll-out of IT operational policies and procedures and over time managing the ongoing maintenance, extension and improvement of SGS IT systems as needed.
- Analyzing IT issues and problems systematically, gathering broad and balanced input, drawing sound conclusions and translating conclusions into timely decisions and actions.
- Maintaining network software systems.
- Maintaining software licensing.
- Developing and implementing a plan for data backups and ensuring data integrity.
- Monitoring and maintaining networkable devices (printers, photocopiers, etc.).
- Other duties as assigned.
