The Database Management Officer manages all management information systems (MISs), geospatial (GIS) data management activities and conducts related technology and data analysis in support of the Research and Monitoring and Evaluation teams. S/he is responsible for aiding in all project information services, primarily data management, GPS support and data collection and
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Developing the MIS data systems for capturing performance information on all programming aspects of the project;
- Overseeing all geospatial data management activities and conducts related technology and data analysis.
- Responsible for aiding in all project information services, primarily data management, GPS support and data collection and processing and reporting quality control.
- Managing geospatial and file based documents to ensure data quality standards are maintained, editing geospatial data and preparing cartographic products.
- Overseeing geospatial verification and training others in the use of geospatial software systems.
- Coordinating GIS activities with the program staff and IT teams.
- Performing GIS data quality control of field data. The process of quality control includes reviewing the data for completeness and accuracy, identifying, correcting errors or omissions in the data and insuring that that data is stored correctly in the project GIS database, including, correct coordinate projection and metadata.
- Capturing GIS data in different formats using GPS, heads up digitizing and other means.
- Performing GIS data quality control of data collected from external sources. The process of quality control includes reviewing the data for completeness and accuracy, identifying and correcting errors or omissions in the data and insuring that that data is stored correctly in the database and updating metadata.
- Performing GIS spatial analyses as required.
- Creating map layouts, map templates, map icons, generate maps, generate reports and insure that the maps and reports are stored in the database correctly.
- Developing new applications, tools, techniques or methods to improve workflow and train others in their use.
- Providing information and details in support of monthly reports on all activities.
- Ensuring effective and efficient flow of information on project results to all stakeholders;
- Respond to periodic performance data requests;
- Developed tools and mechanisms to monitor program performance and evaluated the appropriateness and relevance of program implementation strategies;
- Other duties as assigned.
