Background and Rationale

Finn Church Aid (FCA) is the largest organization for development cooperation and the second largest provider of humanitarian assistance in Finland. FCA operates in twelve countries in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, and has over 70 years of experience of international aid. FCA specializes in supporting local communities in three priority areas: Right to Livelihood, Right to Quality Education and Right to Peace. Our operations includes long-term development cooperation, humanitarian assistance and advocacy. FCA has been working in Jordan since 2012 with focus on mitigating the impact of the regional refugee crisis especially among youth and young adults. Over the years, the priorities of the country program have gradually shifted from Education in Emergencies to long-term resilience and reduced aid dependency of both refugees and vulnerable host communities. These goals are promoted especially through various livelihood interventions. FCA is planning to advance its understanding of gender equality and gender mainstreaming in the planning and implementation of its projects


Purpose of consultancy and scope of work 

The main reason for organizing this training is to ensure that FCA JOCO (Jordan Country Office) staff have the necessary tools and skills to increase their overall efficiency in gender mainstreaming in projects and thereby contribute significantly to the Country Programme Development.


Roles and responsibilities of the Trainer: 

  • The Trainer will develop the training material based on FCA’s available materials such as the ACT Gender Inclusive RBA training package and contextualize it to be more suitable with the local context, with discussion with FCA RBA and gender Advisor at the SAC (Head Office).
  • The material will include: o Linking discrimination, inequality and poverty o Human rights and gender equality concepts; Power, gender and social relations, etc. o Gender and Rights-Based Approach to Development: Analysis from the Gender Inclusive Rights Based Perspective (how to conduct Gender Analysis), Use of Gender and Age, Disability Markers.
  • Development of gender and inclusion sensitive indicators and use of them; collecting data and the utilization of gender disaggregated data.
  • The material shall be in English, but the training can be a mixture of Arabic and English.


Roles and responsibilities for FCA:

  • FCA will facilitate the logistical and financial matters of the training.
  • FCA will provide timely feedback on the training material and training outline.
