Organizational context (where the job is located in the Organization)
The Jordan Red Crescent (JRC) is a member of the largest humanitarian network worldwide; the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (RCRCMVMT). The JRC is one of the key stakeholders in Jordan in disaster preparedness, response and recovery. In times of emergencies the JRC acts as an auxiliary to the public authorities with a mandate to “Alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable groups, victims of armed conflicts and natural disasters and to protect their dignity and rights in a manner that preserves their lives, safety, security and well-being “. The JRC has 10 branches allocated across all governorates in Jordan in addition to the HQ in Amman the Capital. The JRC conducts its works by providing humanitarian, social and health services in accordance to international laws, regulations and convention (the Geneva Conventions in particular). The JRC abides to the Movement’s seven fundamental principles.

Job purpose
Under the supervision of the Head of Programmes and Operations at JRC HQ, the incumbent is responsible for providing high level support to HQ in various MHPSS activities to ensure communities in Jordan are getting the mental aid they need.
MHPSS is under Health, the main focus for JRC and its partners is contributing to the regional framework for action in favor of missing persons and their families, more significantly in relation to the Syrian conflict and now in relation to the COVID-19 crisis and its aftermath.
As part of the Health Unit team, the MHPSS Field Officer working on MHPSS issues:
- Contributes to the implementation of the MHPSS component of the multidisciplinary response to the needs of the families of missing;
- Contributes to the general knowledge of the National Society about the issue of Missing persons and humanitarian consequences and needs of their families;
- Is aware and follows the JRC’s and other relevant international standards applicable to the Missing, including participation in and/or organization of appropriate initiatives for this purpose;
- Seeks the highest impact of the approach to identify the needs of the Families of the Missing and contribute to their psycho-social well-being through the optimal implementation of the MHPSS component of the Accompaniment of the Families of the Missing Program.
- Seeks the highest impact of the approach to identify the needs of the Families affected by the COVID-19 crisis and contribute to their psycho-social well-being through the optimal implementation of the MHPSS activities.
The position holder shall:
General duties

· Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the JRC
Main Responsibilities
Under the close supervision of the Head of Programmes and Operations and in close coordination with the ICRC MHPSS Delegate, contributes to the implementation and running of the MHPSS component of the accompaniment program targeting families of missing persons (FoMs). Is responsible for;
· Is a key contributor to providing direct support to families of missing through support group sessions and delivers individual counselling sessions if needed, during or outside the scope of home visits;
· Establishes and maintains meaningful contacts with the families through phone calls, individual/group sessions and home visits;
· Contributes to planning and organizing activities adapted to the needs of the families of missing persons;
· Along with the ICRC MHPSS Delegate, conducts pre and post assessments and supports the general evaluation process of activities;
· Contributes to the management of MHPSS data relating to activities for families of missing;
· Contributes to the awareness raising sessions on the needs of the families of missing, targeting local and international organizations as well as governmental bodies;
· Complements the stakeholder knowledge base with further mapping through identifying service providers to address the MHPSS needs of the families, and liaises with them in a guided and punctual manner;
· Suggests to the immediate superior external referrals of specific cases (collected through MHPSS activities), in line with the criteria and identifies service providers whenever relevant;
· Provides accurate, timely, and consistent analysis and reporting to the line manager on visits to and/or contacts with the families and program activities;
· Interprets Arabic/English accurately when required, and translates documents as required
