JOBOVERVIEW/SUMMARY: The Community Health Manager will take on the role of setting up and managing the community health program in southern Syria.This position is based in Amman.The program will support 50 community health workers (CHWs) with 4 mobile clinics.
The Community Health Manager will be responsible for overseeing the Community Health Officers supporting the daily activities of the CHWs to ensure high quality service delivery and program implementation. She/he will provide trainings, mentoring and supportive supervision to Community Health Officers as well as CHWs. The Community Health will be responsible for managing the day to day community health activities and needs of CHWs. She/he will also be responsible for coordinating with the 4 mobile clinics and ensuring the two teams have the essential medicines and supplies needed. Through regular program monitoring and evaluation, the community health manager will submit detailed technical monthly reports to the health coordinator and conduct contingency and mitigation strategy in coordination with the health coordinator. The Community Health Manager will also be responsible for promoting collaboration and linkage between the health facilities as well as with other sectors working at community level.
Under the direct supervision of the Health Coordinator the community health program manager will be responsible for day to day management of the program ensuring the smooth operations of the program and supporting innovative and high quality data collection processes.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES:
Management and Implementation of Program:
Develop a recruitment strategy with implementing partners for the recruitment of CHWs, CHW supervisors and mobile clinic staff.
Recruit, train and supervise program staff and CHWs, in coordination with the implementing partner.
Work with implementing partners to develop procurement and spending plans and manage the budget for the implementation of the program.
Develop technical training materials, job aids and IEC/BCC materials for the community health workers
Develop community health training program, in collaboration with technical experts on topics suchas; nutrition, prevention and management of chronic disease, reproductive health and hygiene
In coordination with the Health Coordinator, develop all project documents including; monitoring plans, supervision checklists, program work plans, risk and issue management, program spending plans and procurement plans
In collaboration with supply chain and logistics, ensure timely supply of materials and supplies for CHWs and mobile clinics
Establishmentof an effective referral system, ensuring continuity of care for acute and emergency cases between mobile clinics, CHWs and static facilities.
