Scope of Work for SRR Facilitation Training
Estimated Dates: August - October 2016
 
 
Project Description:
The IRC is in need of a theory and practice-based training that can improve the quality of knowledge transfer and capacity building for staff and partners inside Syria. The ideal training will provide theory, opportunities for practice, as well as coaching delivered over several months. The ideal partner for this project will work with the IRC in the delivery of the facilitation training but also work over a longer period of time to offer mentoring and coaching to the trainees as they develop and deliver their respective trainings. (estimated 4 months)
 
Deliverables:
The expected training methodology includes three phases as outlined below:
5-day regional workshop with theory and role play/practice (24 participants)

A series of three or four 2-day workshops (6-8 participants in each) for practice

Coaching and supervision for each participant in the delivery of one training (optional)
 
The ideal trainers will have extensive experience in providing teacher/facilitator training and will be fluent in English and Arabic. Training participants will be IRC Managers/Sr. Officers in the SRR region who are subject matter experts and have responsibility for the training of Syrian staff. The trainers will offer ongoing mentoring and coaching, as needed, over the course of two months to assist each training participant in the development and delivery of a workshop in their area of expertise.
 
Specific training objectives:
Strengthen capacity to develop a lesson plan that can deliver an effective training in a relevant sector

Provide additional experience in the creation of participatory exercises that can facilitate adult learning on a variety of topics

Increase confidence of participants in communicating to large groups and leading training sessions

Strengthen basic communication skills such as making eye contact, active listening, fostering participation

Gain experience in the use of multiple training evaluation methodologies to measure effectiveness of future trainings
 
The training agenda and detailed plans will be drafted by the trainers in collaboration with and for approval by the IRC.
 
Payments for this work will cover the time and expenses related to the preparation and delivery of the training. Travel expenses will be considered separately.
