BACKGROUND:
Founded in 1933, the International Rescue Committee is one of the most prominent international organizations working in relief, rehabilitation, protection, post-conflict development, resettlement services and advocacy for those uprooted or affected by violent conflict and oppression.
Working in coordination with the humanitarian community and the Government of Jordan, the IRC's assistance programs for vulnerable persons in Southern Syria includes assistance in the following sectors: women’s protection & empowerment, child protection, protection rule of law, cash assistance, primary health care service provision and community-based health.
SCOPE OF WORK:
With direct management support from the Senior Protection Manager, the Child Protection Manager plays a key role in leading project development and implementation, providing technical support and guidance to the IRC’s protection services, remote management of staff and/or partners inside southern Syria, and ensuring the delivery of quality child protection programming in Dohuk.
Key Working Relationships:
Position Reports to: Senior Protection Manager
Position directly supervises: Protection Officer
Indirect Reporting: Will work within IRC’s cross-border team, led by the Deputy Director (Programs)
Other Internal and/or external contacts: Regular coordination with other humanitarian actors and partners in Jordan and Syria.
