Main Responsibilities:
Advise and support on the organization, monitoring and supervision of surgery activities, ensure pre and post-operative surgical care, in accordance with MSF policies, protocols and universal hygiene standards and in close collaboration with medical staff in the emergency, intensive wards and operation theatre in order to improve patients’ health conditions.
The Surgeon is responsible to:
- Provide adequate technical support including real time consultancy on surgery to the surgery department staff in the Hospitals MSF supports through remote management.
- Act as a project technical advisor on Surgery who guide, support and supervise the team in his/her action area.
- Propose, plan, evaluate, and supervise the training of the staff (emergency and the out-patient teams) in order to ensure the amount of knowledge required and to improve beneficiaries diagnosing, triage, and early detection capabilities.
- Encourage evidence-based practices for surgery at MSF supported facilities.
- Ensure appropriate data collection and information flow surgery wards of the MSF supported facilities.
- Conduct regular meetings with surgeons and other involved medical staff.
- Update and report to the Project Medical Referent on regular bases on gaps, shortcomings and propose solutions.
