The IT Manager works closely with IRD HQ IT as well as other Jordan based IRD IT managers to plan, organize, implement and maintain SGS IT operations. This includes developing, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing key functional areas, particularly network infrastructure, server infrastructure, data communications, and telecommunications systems. Additionally, the IT Manager directs activities to resolve hardware and software problems as needed.
S/he will design and implement short- and long-term plans to ensure infrastructure capacity meets existing and future project requirements; develops, implements, and maintains IRD IT policies, procedures in the field, and provides associated training to maintain successful secure IT infrastructure administration; prepares scope of work, reports and other documentation for IT infrastructure projects and associated efforts; negotiates with vendors, outsourcers, and contractors to secure infrastructure-specific products and services; assists with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures; manages and sets priorities for the design, maintenance, development, and evaluation of all infrastructure systems, including LANs, WANs, Internet, intranet, security, wireless implementations, etc.; tests field network performance and provides network performance statistics and reports; tests server performance and provides network performance statistics and reports.
Essential Job Functions
Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
Working with the IT Manager in the development and implementation of IT architectures to support the needs of IRD’s field office, consistent with the IT strategy.
Working with the IT Manager to maintain the project’s information management systems (through IRD Cloud services and systems integrators).
Ensuring network and workstation health through Anti-Virus protection and definitions.
Assisting in training program staff in IT operational policies and procedures.
Assisting in the ongoing maintenance, extension and improvement of SGS IT systems as needed.
Implementing a plan for data backups and ensuring data integrity.
Monitoring and maintaining networkable devices (printers, photocopiers, etc.).
Assisting from an ICT perspective, all project information services.
Coordinating MIS/GIS systems with the program staff.
Working with the IT Manager to develop new applications, tools, techniques or methods to improve IT systems and their use by program staff.
Providing information and details in support of monthly reports on all IT activities.
Respond to periodic IT performance data requests;
Other duties as assigned.
