GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Head Nurse will provide direction, inspiration and counseling to teammates while monitoring
workflow, quality outcomes and patient satisfaction in the center. This position is responsible for
delivery and supervision of all dialysis- related nursing services for End Stage Renal Disease patients
in a chronic setting. The Head Nurse will meet or exceed financial objectives established by The
company leadership.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes. The Head Nurse may have non-medical supervisory
responsibility over all other clinically-based teammates including but not limited to dietitian,
pharmacist, social worker, administrative assistant, receptionist, and porter.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not
intended to be all inclusive:
• Provides oversight of clinical teammates and day-to-day operations
• Provides input on teammate relations, hiring, termination, professional development, and
performance development
• Plans, organizes, directs, and manages nursing care of patients in the center; may
participate in direct patient care
• Assists Clinical Operations Manager in facility management as requested to ensure a safe
and sanitary physical environment throughout the center
• Ensures implementation and compliance with The company KSA Policies and Procedures
(P&Ps), and all safety regulatory requirements
• Assists Clinical Operations Manager in ensuring center is prepared at all times to handle
emergency care of patients, including proper training of teammates, equipment readiness, and
procedures in place
• Communicates all emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related
incidents as directed by the P&P
• Ensures safe and sanitary physical environment is maintained throughout center
• Is a resource for new RNs
• Provides unsupervised patient care
• Demonstrates ability to transfer skill set to other centers and works at other centers when
required

Meets qualification for Head Nurse; assumes Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
program and outcome management responsibilities
• Quality Improvement and Facility Management Meeting (QIFMM) leader and driver for
improvement
• Demonstrates proficiency in all Chronic RN duties
• Is a leader for Patient Education
• Directs work of other staff
• Attend mandatory training as part of the onboarding process
• Assumes responsibility for own administrative/clerical duties as needed
Teammate Management
• Provides input on teammate relations, hiring, termination, professional development, and
performance development
• Creates, maintains, and communicates efficient and timely employee schedules
according to the needs of the facility
• Provides leadership to direct reports by helping overcome organizational obstacles
encountered during projects
• Knows, understands, implements, follows, and communicates to teammates all The company
employment P&Ps, awards, and other opportunities within company
• Ensures all The company employment processes are completed timely and in compliance with
The company policy and any applicable laws including but not limited to Performance
Development Reviews, teammate personnel file maintenance, etc.
• Addresses teammate relations issues appropriately and escalate as necessary
• Provides work direction for department teammates
• Reports and document all teammate injuries according to established P&Ps
• Tracks overtime, attendance, and PTO
• Knows, understands, follows, and implements The company safety and security P&Ps
Patient Management
• Plans, organizes, directs and manages nursing care of patients in the center
• Participates in development and revision of P&Ps with Regional Operations Director (ROD),
Director of Clinical Services and Nephrology Consultant to ensure consistent, efficient and
safe treatment delivery
• Prepares center to handle emergency care of patients, including proper training of
teammates, equipment readiness and procedures
• Supervises and performs direct patient care, including but not limited to taking and
monitoring vital signs, initiation and termination of dialysis, documentation, physical
assessment of patients and patient treatments, taking and transcription of physician’s orders
and drawing and documentation of ordered laboratory work
• Notes signs of trauma, patients’ general physical and mental condition, reviews dialysis orders,
documents observations in patient medical records
• Analyzes patient assessments, laboratory data and, when concerns are noted, brings issues
to the attention of the physician
• Communicates all emergencies, patient life-threatening complications and related
incidents as per the P&Ps
• Assesses patient and family learning readiness and provides appropriate information on renal
disease, prescribed dialysis treatment and medical regimen
• Monitors impacts to patient health and well-being

Provides dialysis therapy, including but not limited to formulating dialysis plan per physician
orders, weight and rate to be ultra-filtered, ensuring safety measures are in place and
complied with, administering medications or other appropriate treatments, discontinuing
dialysis according to established procedure, documenting all activity appropriately
• Instructs patients on pre- and post-dialysis care
• Instructs patients on pre-transplant preparation
• Administers patient quality care in a considerate, respectful manner
• Participates in long-term and short-term care planning and monthly progress notes
Financial Management
• Supervises inventory management including purchasing, product selection, and supply usage
• Ensures patient and treatment charge information are accurate and submitted to
Ministry of Health (MOH) in a timely manner
• Ensures patient and treatment charge information and related data are accurate and
submitted in a timely manner by means of designated reporting system
• Provides oversight of clinical teammates and day-to-day operations
Risk Management/Quality Assurance Compliance
• Ensures compliance with The company P&Ps in accordance with MOH regulations for patient
care and services
• Ensures compliance with MOH regulations for injury prevention and safety training
• Maintains Quality Assurance (QA) Programs as required by The company
• Constantly looks at current processes and procedures and identifies and implements areas
of improvement while adhering to The company and Saudi requirements
• Participates in and leads QA meetings and all applicable in-services
• Participates in and leads QA cost containment programs
• Fosters sense of urgency in teammates that promotes commitment to optimal clinical
outcomes and regulatory compliance for the center
